Mission Statement and Goals

Earth Day 2009 at the Fairhope Pier seeks to grow the environmental movement on the Gulf Coast and sees it as an effective vehicle for promoting a healthy, sustainable planet.

Educational programs, exhibitors, and activities for Earth Day Mobile Bay are guided by the following goals:

*Promote Civic Engagement*	Earth Day Mobile Bay works with partner organizations to provide opportunities for all interested citizens to become active at a local level to voice concerns about the environment.
*Broaden the Meaning of "Environment"*	expand the definition of "environment" to include all issues that affect our health, our communities and our environment, such as air and water pollution and environmental health issues.
*Promote Environmental Education Programs*	promote civic participation and develop a sense of environmental responsibility among all citizens.

Earth Day 2009 needs to engage non-profit organizations, corporations and educational institutions in support of environmental programs.
